Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to travel to Galápagos?
There isn't a single answer — it depends on what you're looking for. From December to May the water is warmer, ideal for swimming and diving, with brief rains and greener landscapes. From June to November the climate is cooler and drier, with rougher seas and more marine wildlife activity such as manta rays and whales. There's no "worse" season: each one has its own appeal depending on what you want to experience.
What is the Sierra Negra volcano?
It's one of the most active volcanoes in Galápagos, located on Isabela Island. It's known for having one of the largest calderas in the world, about 10 km in diameter, and can be visited on a guided hike along its rim.
How do flights to and between the islands work?
To reach Galápagos from the mainland, flights depart mainly from Quito and Guayaquil to Baltra or San Cristóbal islands. Once in the archipelago, inter-island flights (air taxi style) and ferries are both available to move between the populated islands.
